Hints and Tips for Blog Writing

Blogging is one of the most valuable tools for businesses to engage with customers or prospects. It allows you not only to connect with the right audiences, but also to share relevant information with them. Think about it as if it was your direct communication channel, the first step through the door.

Additionally, a regularly updated blog page fuels SEO. This means that search engines will reward you for fresh, original content by placing your website higher up in the search results.

If you are writing a blog on a subject you are passionate about, this will not only allow you to write freely, but will let those who read your blog know that you are knowledgeable about your subject and help to establish you as an expert.

Remember, if you use somebody else’s research or content, you must quote the source in your blog. The same goes for graphics, quotes and images.

The frequency of your blog is also an important factor. Your social media followers may expect to see fresh content from you on a regular basis as part of your routine. You don’t want to disappoint them.

You don’t have to be a professional designer to blog. Many blogging platforms like WordPress and Hubspot are people-friendly and don’t require advanced graphic skills. The latest research from a Hub Spot survey says that businesses that blog acquire as much as 60% more customers than those who don’t.

Your blog is the heart of all of your marketing efforts. It gives your company a voice.

If the blog that you have written has lots of errors, be they spelling, grammar, punctuation or maybe the paragraphs you have written are too long, then your potential customer could compromise the authority of your blog by leaving derogatory comments.

This can potentially put other readers off even looking at your blog. The risk is that when the visitors glance at your blog page and see the comments, they would then immediately leave the page. This can in turn affect your positioning on Google. The search engine would see your content as irrelevant or not engaging and penalise you for it.

Your blog MUST be edited or proofread, BEFORE it is published!

Proofreading can be time consuming and hard to do accurately on your own work. If you do not have the time to do this yourself, then please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be delighted to do the editing and proofreading for you.
